PROBLEM & SOLUTION

Assess the Cause Before Selecting the Repair

A visually successful dome can still fail when water paths, condensation risk and drainage interfaces are not considered. The outer cladding, ventilation cavity, waterproofing layer, insulation and internal substrate must be understood as one envelope assembly.

The correct build-up varies by climate, internal humidity, substrate, dome material and local regulations. MosqueBuild coordinates the architectural interfaces and works with the responsible project professionals on the required technical specification.

WHAT WE REVIEW

  • Rainwater ingress around seams and penetrations
  • Condensation beneath the outer dome finish
  • Missing or discontinuous insulation zones
  • Incompatible vapour or waterproofing layers
COMMON ISSUES

Typical Conditions We Check

Rainwater ingress around seams and penetrations

Condensation beneath the outer dome finish

Missing or discontinuous insulation zones

Incompatible vapour or waterproofing layers

ASSESSMENT

The Visible Dome Is Only the Outer Layer of the Envelope

Rain protection, vapour behaviour, insulation and ventilation are connected. A detail that works in one climate or internal humidity condition may not be appropriate in another, so the roof build-up should be reviewed for the actual mosque rather than copied from a generic section.

Частые вопросы

Before You Request a Quote

Is one waterproofing build-up suitable for every dome?
No. Climate, substrate, internal humidity, insulation strategy and chosen outer material all influence the correct build-up.
Can condensation occur even if the roof does not leak?
Yes. Moisture can come from interior vapour as well as rain, which is why thermal and vapour behaviour should be considered by the project team.
Can waterproofing be upgraded during re-cladding?
Yes, and renovation often provides access to review layers that were previously concealed.
Does the finial penetration need special treatment?
Yes. It should be integrated with the roof layers and structural support so water is not relying on a surface sealant alone.
