Electrical Coordination

Chandelier Electrical, Dimming & Lighting Controls Guide

A custom chandelier should be electrically specified for the destination project before production. Voltage, frequency, drivers, dimming protocol, circuiting, CCT, CRI and maintenance access can change the final component selection.

Chandelier electrical and lamp layout

Confirm the destination electrical standard

Projects may use 110–120V/60Hz, 220–240V/50Hz or another local standard. The chandelier should not be ordered on the assumption that all markets use the same lamps, drivers, dimmers or certification route. Destination country belongs in the first project brief.

Control options

TRIAC / phase dimming

Common in smaller and hospitality applications, but driver compatibility and minimum load should be checked.

0–10V

Used in many commercial projects and requires compatible control wiring and drivers.

DALI

Useful where the chandelier is integrated into a wider digital lighting-control system and scenes.

Switched circuits

Large ring or multi-tier chandeliers can sometimes be zoned into separate circuits for flexible scene setting.

Light quality and performance

  • Correlated colour temperature (CCT)
  • Colour rendering index (CRI)
  • Total connected load
  • Lumen output and optical distribution
  • Driver location and replacement access
  • Emergency-lighting role, if any
  • IES/LDT or photometric information when required and available

Decorative chandeliers should normally be coordinated with the wider ambient and architectural lighting plan rather than expected to provide every lux requirement alone.

Documentation to request

Depending on project scope, the final package may include wiring diagrams, lamp/driver schedules, circuit zoning, installation details and available technical files. Certification requirements must be agreed for the destination market before component approval.

Electrical control schedule for custom chandeliers

Decorative lighting should be documented as an electrical system, not only as a fixture. Before production, define connected load, circuit arrangement, control method and the location of serviceable drivers or control gear.

  • Prepare a circuit/load schedule for each chandelier or lighting zone.
  • Confirm dimming protocol and compatibility between drivers, dimmers and control system.
  • Place drivers and power supplies where they can be inspected and replaced without dismantling major decorative components.
  • Coordinate emergency or backup-lighting requirements separately; decorative circuits should not be assumed to provide statutory emergency lighting.
  • Record scene levels and final control settings during commissioning.
  • For international projects, verify voltage, frequency, earthing and local certification with the responsible electrical team.
