A mihrab and minbar should read as part of the mosque architecture rather than as two independent pieces of furniture. Their dimensions, materials and ornament must be coordinated with the qibla wall, ceiling and prayer-hall scale.
Measure the qibla wall first
Record the usable wall width, finished floor-to-ceiling height, column positions, windows, doors, wall thickness and any existing niche. The mihrab width and height should be proportioned to this composition. The minbar stair direction, platform height and footprint must also leave clear circulation around the imam area.
Solid wood, veneered systems and stone
Solid beech, oak and other suitable timbers can create deeply carved traditional work and durable joinery. Veneered engineered panels can reduce cost and weight while keeping a refined appearance when the design is adapted to the material. Marble, stone and mixed-material mihrabs may suit monumental interiors. Material choice should follow budget, climate, design language and maintenance capability.
Design language should match the mosque
Geometric carving, arabesque, calligraphy, muqarnas and mouldings should be scaled to viewing distance. A small prayer hall usually benefits from more controlled relief and fewer competing motifs, while a large hall can carry deeper layers and taller compositions. Colour and finish should coordinate with doors, wall cladding, carpet and chandelier rather than being selected in isolation.
Plan lighting and acoustics around the qibla wall
Accent lighting can improve depth and calligraphy visibility, but fixtures and wiring routes should be coordinated before production. Hard decorative surfaces near the imam can influence sound reflections, so the mihrab zone should be reviewed together with the audio design. Speaker positions should never be discovered only after carved panels arrive on site.
Modular production for export
Large mihrab surrounds and minbar assemblies can be divided into numbered modules for safer packing and container transport. Hidden joints, pre-drilled fixing locations and assembly drawings reduce reliance on site improvisation. Delicate carved elements require protective packing that prevents rubbing and edge damage during long-distance shipping.

Send qibla-wall dimensions, front and side photographs, mosque capacity, ceiling height, preferred style references and budget level. If drawings exist, PDF or DWG information is ideal. Confirm whether the request is for mihrab only, minbar only, a coordinated set, or the full qibla wall with cladding and calligraphy.
