During the construction of the Tokyo Mosque, Ottoman architecture was taken as a basis. The mosque, which has the characteristics of mosques built in the Ottoman period, especially with its tall minarets and large dome form, created a different view of Japanese architecture with its decorations and the color-material harmony preferred in the design.

With its experienced staff, our company makes solid and aesthetic mosques. By working with our company, which is very knowledgeable about mosque culture, you can have both durable and magnificent structures built.

    History of Tokyo Mosque

The Tokyo Mosque, which serves as a Turkish cultural center, was built in 1938 by Turkish nomads. Considered the largest mosque in Japan, Tokyo Mosque is also considered the most beautiful mosque indisputably. During the construction of Tokyo Mosque, which dazzles with its architecture, it was controlled by Abdürreşid İbrahim and Abdülhay Kurban Ali. However, Tsuruki Furukawa, Akira Wakabayashi, and Sami Gören fully provided the coordination.

Although the Tokyo Mosque has a very magnificent and pleasant appearance, it had to be demolished in 1986 due to serious structural damage. After this situation, the reconstruction of the mosque was started in 1998, thanks to the guidance and support of the Directorate of Religious Affairs.

Muharrem Hilmi Şenalp, the architect of the building, created a valuable space, both materially and morally, based on Ottoman architectural decoration and building features. The building, which is literally a monument of art with details made by 70 Turkish masters and marble specially brought from Turkey, was completed in 2000 and opened for use on June 30, 2000.

    Architectural Features of Tokyo Mosque

Created by being inspired by Ottoman architecture, the Tokyo mosque comes across as a work of art in the area. The mosque, whose exterior and interior designs are fascinating, reflects Ottoman architecture in every aspect and is similar to the Sultan Ahmed Mosque and the Blue Mosque, which are among the most important examples of this architecture.

Tokyo Mosque, which is stated as the largest mosque in Japan, offers a different atmosphere for Muslims as a Turkish cultural center. The reason for this is that many Japanese apartments are around the mosque. High technology was used during the construction of the Tokyo mosque, which was decorated with traditional art. Its purpose is to set an example between tradition and modernity.

Due to the construction of a new building in a different culture, particularly detailed craftsmanship was applied. Traditional Turkish handicrafts were preferred for the interior decoration of the mosque and the mosque was provided to create a pleasant atmosphere like similar Ottoman structures. The magnificent structure of the mosque was emphasized, especially with the calligraphy applied to the dome and the shapes specially chosen for the interior design.

Mosques provide a comfortable space for people with peaceful and calm air. Mosque-stained glasses are among the traditional elements used to provide this comfort in the Tokyo Mosque. The glasses, specially decorated with floral motifs, contain Arabic calligraphy and geometric designs around them. Blue, green, and red colors are generally preferred for the glasses. These colors are preferred because they give the environment peace, freshness, and vitality.

Especially in the morning and in the early afternoon, an atmospheric purlin is created in the interior thanks to the stained glass windows. The calligraphy, which is applied to blue-colored ceramics and is an invigorating element in the field, ensures the completion of the interior decoration of the mosque and provides integrity with the interior architectural elements.

Minbar, mihrab, and dais-like elements in the mosque were chosen to provide integrity within the mosque and were decorated with geometric shapes. These products, which are generally preferred as marble, draw attention in the area with their durability and pleasant appearance.

Tokyo mosque is made by our company with employees who are experts in their fields. It may vary according to the request of the person or the characteristics of the area.
